Episode 0.056: For Your Brain Only
(35.1 MB; 1:16:46 MIN)
As Dr. Von Martinez and Adolph move into Castle Despicable, Captain Bonemarrow finds himself missing the old Von Martinez lab, whereas I do not. In fact, I mention one of a laundry list of bad experiences that seemed to be initiated by merely entering Von Martinez' house. Von Martinez gets on the wrong side of international superspy John Baines, then accidentally swaps minds with me before Baines chases us around town. Can we fix Von Martinez brain-swapping machine before I spent the rest of Von Martinez' life in a high-security prison?
While we try to survive yet another Von Martinez fiasco, you get to listen to the two-part Suspense adaptation of Curt Siodmak's "Donovan's Brain"!

I see (by which I mean, I hear) that kid with the bike is back - good! I never tire of hearing that brat suffer! You'd think he'd wise up and get a skateboard or a Hoveround or something...

The Von Martinez impression was a creepily accurate winner.

LOL - it's all about getting into the mind (or lack thereof) of the character...

Wow! I have to admit, Von Martinez was not one of my favorite characters. But now he's gone all mad scientisty. He's growing on me! His addled mind and total inability to grasp the obvious should provide ample opportunity for mayhem.
I too like paperboys being hit with rolls of quarters. The rest of us have to suffer to make a living, and so should he.
Donovan's brain is a classic. Every time I get the urge to pluck out someone's brain and keep it in a jar I just remember the sad ending. You've doubtlessly saved lives by your warning.

There's a reason Von Martinez' "mad scientisty" quality is increasing... stay tuned for clarification.
I was always a fan of disembodied head and/or brain flicks. Yes, the premise is incredibly unlikely, but it somehow incredibly entertaining. It's one of my favorite things about Futurama!

Donovan's brain glowed in the darkened theater where my only non-comfort was my older brother and stale, oily popcorn. The second feature,
"Murders in the Rue Morgue," featured the most gratuitous transition (at the time) from black and white, the entire movie, to techincolor at the very end, when the villain was crushed under the wooden floorboards of an ancient freight elevator so that we'd know it was blood oozing up and not crude oil. Popcorn puke is disgusting!
I miss Eugene, because when I was this many...

Both are excellent movies! You're a lucky man to have seen them as a double feature.
I've been going through a massive stack of old, unfinished scripts and trying to wrap them up or cannibalize them, so a few of the newer characters have gotten left out... Eugene will make an appearance in the upcoming "Fists Of The Yecchi"!
