Episode 0.068: Fangs For The Maladies, Pt. 1

(47.6 MB; 1:44:02 MIN)

Taliesin is recruited by Doc Defiant to assist him and Prof. Picklepepper in the search and rescue effort for Prof. Wheaton Barley, a vampirologist last seen investigating a possible feral vampire outbreak in Doctor Despicable's hometown of Slumgullia.  Meanwhile, Doc receives a letter he thinks is inviting him to receive an award from the Slumgullian locals.  Coincidence?  Probably not.

While we find ourselves trapped between villagers with torches and pitchforks and a plague of feral vampires, you get to listen to an episode of Stage 49 - a production of Dracula featuring Lorne Greene!  We also throw in a novelty record by Al Zanino and a few vampire movie trailers.   Taliesin unveils his second ever Bottom 3, courtesy of Taliesin Meets The Vampires.

"Fangs For The Maladies, Pt. 1" was written by W. Ralph Walters, with additional dialog by Victor Gates,

I think I need to point out that Slumgullia isn't merely, a "town", it is the capital "town" of the country which is named for it. And there is plenty of electricity - the rates just happen to be prohibitively expensive. Most people run an extension cord to nearby Visaria, or through the Alps to Luxembourg or Lichtenstein. Though some (I admit nothing!) have been known to draw down and store the lightning. Shameful, some of the preconceived notions you foreigners have!

For Dr. WVM, from Jimmy Fallon:
"While speaking about Bruce Springsteen at the Kennedy Center last night, President Obama said, “I’m the President, but he’s the Boss.” And then Biden was like, “Then who the hell is Tony Danza?!”

To what can Dr. WVM's raging non-sequiturism be credited? Did he eat lead paint chips? Swim downstream from Three-Mile Island? Emerge from one of Kevin McCarthy's PODS? Can the condition be alleviated or cured with enemas three times a day?

All this and more will be unveiled as the Von Martinez storyline unfolds... I will say there is something specific that happened to the maddest of mad scientists to make him a few negatively charged electrons short of an atom, so to speak.

Enemas? Three times a day? You know, that would make an interesting (or at least entertaining) experiment! He would have to stay with Zombie Astronaut, however, for the duration - ZA and Zombelina would of course be the control group, while I took notes and made observations by remote cameras...

Meanwhile, I would like to mention that Slumgullia DOES have an airport, thank you very much - an INTERNATIONAL airport, at that! It happens to be in Switzerland, who lease the property to us at quite reasonable rates, as we are quite a small - yet powerful! - country. Air travel is bad for you, in any case, as our contretemps with that Space Snot should amply illustrate...

Confession, Dr. D. I am your Secret Santa. The airline said the blueberry pies were considered 'gels,' but I could send them with checked-in luggage. So I packed the 10 blueberry pies in between the four dozen new white lab coats in a duffel bag. Now I'm having second thoughts about this arrangement. Santa will come down your chimney or through the clothes dryer vent, and he assures me they will get through as easily as he does. Ho Ho Ho!

I like having Taliesin visit us whenever he's not too busy blogging as well! It was also a treat to see Taliesin the Vampirologist in action. Now if you run into any feral vampires, you know who to contact for pest control suggestions.

We did have a second half, but I accidentally ate it in the podcast and mayonnaise sandwich (with a side of mayo, of course) that I ate for lunch.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the show! I enjoy the episodes that feature a number of the semi-regular cast. The scripts tend to get a wee bit complicated (or end up being two-parters), but it's fun hearing everyone interact.
