EPISODE 0.073: DAWN OF THE DUMMIES
(54.6 MB; 1:59:29 MIN)
Aaaaand, we're back!
Doc's latest plan to conquer the world involves using a formula distilled from those zombie-making meteorites we found in the Jurassic Period to throw the world into chaos - but Dr. Canker and Gen. Tanhammer plan on stealing Doc's formula to jump start Operation: Zombie Army. However, someone else has his own plans for the mysterious monster-making muck...
While I help Doc screw up the wrld (while making some extra cash off some leftover Thighmasters and stuff), you get to hear ventriloquist dummy-themed audio from The Creaking Door, Escape and Suspense! Taliesin discusses vampires and puppets, courtesy of Taliesin Meets The Vampires.

Hooray! The dummy theme is very genuinely creepy, and as always, such great, goofy goodness from everyone in the ZA crew!

Glad you're enjoying the podcast!
Doc's laundry list of inventions are tipically either dangerous or inexplicable... not really sure why it's either one or the other..

I'll have you know that many of my inventions are both dangerous AND inexplicable! Well, to average mortal minds like your own...
NOT CRAZY!

A thought comes to mind, Dr. Despicable in Vegas.
I would imagine there would be a multitude of all you can eat buffets, some of which must be open 24/7, and I would think that some of them would serve a good variety of pies, so my question is this, would Dr. D be content to live the remainder of his days gorging himself on pies for the low low price of around 12$?
Also hope your move went well Zombie!

Well, that's a moot point now that Shrimpy and Gen. Tanhammer blew Vegas up. Although Doc seems to have used his firm grasp of science to keep himself in pies 24/7, anyway...
The move was irritating, but it's over and things are looking up, so no complaints here!

Jeezum Pete!! Is this thing really 2 hours long?!

Ahh, at last the story continues. I personally do not care for the ventriloquist dummy stories. However, I did enjoy the exploits of our zombie and Dr. Despicable. An excellent job of intertwining the tiopic and the zombie story plot. I hope the move went OK and you're staying ahead of law enforcement. That homemade security can be downright unreasonable. Aldon

Hi there, Aldon!
I'm ambivalent toward ventriloquist dummy stories, although there have been excellent examples of it being done well (the movie "Magic", the Cliff Robertson episode of the Twilight Zone "The Dummy", etc.).
The destruction of Vegas might prove to be interesting for Doc as well... can Gen. Tanhammer continue to convince Doc Defiant to focus on bringing in Dr. Von Martinez if he's certain it was Despicable that blew up Vegas? We shall see!
The move went well, despite Doc accidentally zapping a chunk of my DVD collection into the Dark Ages because he was to lazy to carry any boxes...

NOT LAZY!
And you are perilously close to violating that non-disclosure agreement I had you sign when you "asked" me to help! One more crack, and Wilheim will be YOUR "roommate"!

I'm planning on moving this fall. Please tell Doc I will not be serving pie and he would be expected to do heavy labor. That should make the process go much more smoothly. I hate it when I trip over wrinkles in the space-time continuum. As for destroying Vegas, has not living there always been a gamble?
I find Martinez far more enjoyable now that he has an invention or two to throw around. He's not as endearing a character as doc, but then, he's not sponsored by Herbert West!

Ventriloquist stories don't really rank high on my list, ordinarily, but these were terrific! I especially liked the "Suspense" episode. If you haven't seen Claude Rains in the "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" version, you need to consult NetFlix immediately! Rains is always brilliant, but especially so in this one!

Saw this originally in the mid-late 80's. Anyone remember Night Flight? Here is... The Dummy!
